Brazoria County Courthouse Parking Lots
MBCO Engineering, LLC (MBCO) was contacted to develop construction plans, specifications and estimates for the design of two (2) parking lots and sidewalks on two different city blocks currently occupied by the MER facility and the Old Maintenance Building in Angleton, Tx. The approximate size of the parking lots are 400 ft by 400 ft and are drained using underground storm sewer system into either an underground closed drainage systems that will tie into the newly expanded drainage infrastructure owned by the City of Angleton or TxDOT drainage system.
The project required extensive coordination with the City of Angleton, TxDOT, CenterPoint Energy and all other major utilities within the project.
MBCO developed the construction cost estimates and all necessary specifications and provisions to be included into the construction documents for the County’s construction bid package.
Because of the general flat terrain and potential for street flooding in the vicinity it was a challenge to design grade the parking lots to drain without ponding and balance the dirt work on the site.
Utilizing Autocad Civil 3D design software we were able to design the parking lots and drainage systems to be as efficient as possible by creating a surface model of the existing and proposed design area to verify the systems could handle the storm water drainage to meet or exceed local regulations. We coordinated with the City engineer on the Angleton drainage system and TxDOT on the other drainage system.
